Enfield Town claimed a vital win in their Ryman Premier relegation battle as a goal from Joe Stevens helped the Towners to a 1-0 win against Bury Town.

Town started the opening 45 minutes strongly and forced Town back for long periods of the half.

Liam Hope and Mark Kirby both struck the woodwork and Hope then fired over when put through on goal.

Bury looked dangerous on the break but Enfield were unfortunate to go into the break level.

However, shortly after the restart they went ahead as Stevens’ corner snuck in at the far post.

Seb Dunbar was sent off for Bury but the visitors did threaten despite their man disadvantage.

Enfield's defence stayed strong and the hosts almost added a second as Jamie Richards and Corey Whitely both came close.

Bury's chances of levelling the contest ended in the final minutes as they were reduced to nine men as Joe Wright was shown a second yellow card.
