It proved another frustrating weekend for Enfield Ignatians as the unrelenting bad weather again led to the cancellation of all senior and junior rugby last weekend.

The first team were due to host Stowmarket at Donkey Lane and it was a fixture that coach Emile Hertz had been looking forward to.

He said: “We had been able to train during the week at Southgate Hockey Club during the week, and personally I would have liked to have been in a position to play the fixture.

“However, the pitches are waterlogged at the moment and our training facility is saturated in parts.

“So we didn’t really have any option but to go down the postponement route.”

Unlike some other clubs, Ignatians have only lost one senior fixture, Stowmarket, to the elements, although the away clash against Lowestoft & Yarmouth this weekend will be weather dependent.

In addition to ‘recovering’ the Stowmarket clash, Ignatians also have the Club Big Day Out clash against Saffron Walden to look forward to at Allianz Park, the home of Saracens, on March 1.

Coach places on the Donkey Lane-Allianz Park shuttle service are still available, and can be booked via Nikki Wooster.

Her e-mail address is nikkiwooster@tiscali.co.uk. The cost is £5 per head.
