Enfield Ignatians suffered a 48-27 defeat against London Two North-East leaders Ipswich at Donkey Lane but did come away from the contest with a bonus point after scoring four tries.
Luke Ellis (two), Wes Warren and Sam Emery all crossed for Ignatians in the defeat and scrum-half Jordan Wilson rifled over two conversions and a penalty.
However, Ipswich’s Chris Blom scored four tries and fly-half Corne Els claimed 18 points with the boot to ensure the visitors recorded a deserved victory.
Enfield skills coach Steve Atkinson said: “We dominated field position for most of the game but were unable to convert possession into points and that was the difference between the sides.
“Each time the more clinical Ipswich visited our 22 they came away with the points, but when we got into similar positions, more often than not, we didn't put points on the scoreboard.”
Ignatians are away to Twickenham in the Intermediate Cup this Saturday.
Elsewhere, Ignatians Twos continue to head the pack in Herts-Middlesex Merit Table Two after claiming a 25-0 default win after opponents Tring Threes were unable to fulfil the fixture.
The side were in action however as they defeated Hampstead Reserves 55-22 in a friendly, with Ben Pratt (three), Christian Adofo (two), James Rawlinson, Dan Jagessar, Andy Roper and Hadee Fayaz all crossing the line.
The Threes lost their first game of the season in Table Three, going down 19-18 against Barnet Twos while the Fours easily defeated Stevenage Town Twos 47-14 in Table Six.
The Under-17s took on a strong Cheshunt side and were beaten 31-0 despite a good first-half display and the Under-15s completed a 34-10 win against Barnet.
Conor Gray (two), Jack Allen, Jordan Rhoden, Anzl Swartz and Euan Renny all underpinned a confident victory.
