Kyle Walker played the full 90 minutes and remains unbeaten with England after the Three Lions drew 0-0 against Ukraine in Group H of the World Cup qualifiers.
Walker set up Theo Walcott in the second half, winning possession before crossing low for the Arsenal winger, who fired wide.
Jermain Defoe and Andros Townsend were unused substitutes in Kiev.
Tottenham’s new striker Christian Eriksen produced an excellent display for Denmark as they recorded a 1-0 win away to Armenia.
Eriksen was twice denied by Gevorg Kasparov before Daniel Agger’s penalty ensured the visitors collected maximum points.
It leaves Denmark third in Group B, one point behind Bulgaria, with Italy having already qualified.
There was a 2-1 victory for Gylfi Sigurdsson’s Iceland as they moved up to second place in Group E.
After Sigurdsson hit the post early on, Iceland required goals from Birkir Bjarnason and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson to come from a goal down to win.
France captain Hugo Lloris endured an unusually difficult match as his side moved level on points with Spain in Group I after they beat Belarus 4-2 despite falling behind twice.
Erik Lamela watched from the bench as Argentina beat Paraguay 5-2 as they secured their place at next year’s World Cup.
Vlad Chiriches captained Romania to a 2-0 loss at home to Turkey and saw them slip down to fourth place in Group D.
