Enfield Ignatians beaten 36-33 against Old Priorians in entertaining pre-season friendly
3:00pm Wednesday 4th September 2013 in Sport
Enfield Ignatians' second pre-season game proved high on entertainment value although the result ultimately went against the home side as they were beaten 36-33 by Old Priorians.
Newly promoted Priorians raced into in 10-0 lead after seven minutes but two converted tries from Tan Mbonu, either side of a Jordan Wilson score, enabled Ignatians to get a temporary grip on matters by opening-up a 19-10 lead.
However, Old Priorians' wide game continued to hurt Ignatians and two further scores from the West Londoners enabled them to hold a narrow 22-19 advantage after the second quarter.
The score continued to fluctuate in the third and fourth quarters and, despite further scores from Sam Emery and Christian Adofo, Old Priorians responded with two converted tries to run out narrow victors.
Ignatians had hoped to play their third and final game this Saturday away to Hemel Hempstead but this fixture has been cancelled and new opponents are being sought.
