Winchmore Hill Cricket Club have sent two teams to Jersey for a pre-season tour that will aid the development and showcase the talent of their Colts players.

The Under-14s and Under-15s, some of whom are pictured below, will travel to the largest Channel Island this week and both sides will play three games during their trip.

The teams will also have two coaching presentation evenings on their cricket development and the tour is seen as a stepping stone in the Under-15s’ integration into senior cricket.

Funding of the tour has been generated through company sponsors and club fundraising, which included a number of events such as a Race Night and Karaoke Night.

Part of the money raised will go towards tour kit as well as funding a six-week coaching course run by the club’s cricket development officer Scott Newman.

He said: “We have some very exciting colts playing for the club right now, so providing a tour for the colts not only aids their development but provides something for the younger boys to strive to be part of and experience.

“The Jersey tour allows us as a club to showcase our strong wealth of talent and especially our Under-15 Middlesex league winners.”

Colts manager Neil Innes added: “The high level of cricket that Jersey has across all its age groups provides an excellent foundation for our Colts to play competitive cricket at a significant stage of their development.

“The friendliness, competitive spirit and superb facilitates that Jersey Cricket offer makes it a fantastic experience and one that will not be forgotten.”
