Winchmore Hill's Dominic Studman played a leading role in the celebrations to mark one year since the start of London 2012 at the Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games – and he insists it will live long in the memory.

The 35-year-old, of Highfield Road, paraded the world’s finest male pole vaulters, including Olympic champion Renaud Lavillenie, into the Olympic Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Dominic, who works as an area HR manager for Sainsbury’s, performed his role in front of a capacity crowd of 65,000 people in London and is adamant he won’t be forgetting the experience any time soon.

“It was really exciting because I never made it into the Olympic Stadium last year. I felt slightly nervous because all my work colleagues find it hilarious because I have such a bad sense of direction.” said Dominic.

“The whole country and the whole atmosphere seemed to change last year. I came to the diving at the Olympics and I was in the Olympic Park for the Paralympics for the ‘Turn the Park Orange’ event.”

Dominic was one of almost 60 Sainsbury’s colleagues from across the UK to have led out an event across the three days of the Anniversary Games at the iconic Olympic Stadium.

And he added: “Initially I thought it [the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics] was all going to be an anti-climax, but when it actually started I was impressed by it.”
