Enfield Town manager Steve Newing admits 'every game is a big game' for the Towners

Enfield Town take on fellow Ryman Premier Division strugglers Thurrock on Saturday and Towners boss Steve Newing believes it is "crucial" his side get positive results against teams around them in the table.

Enfield currently sit 18th in the table and are just two points above bottom placed club Carshalton Athletic. Newing’s side take on the Fleet this weekend before facing 15th place Cray Wanderers next Tuesday.

The Towners boss feels it is important not to lose points against teams that are also battling to avoid the drop.

He said: "Every game is a big game for us and we need to win as many as we can. However, the matches against those sides that are around you in the table are crucial.

"You don’t want to lose those matches and let the teams make up ground or get further ahead of you in the table.

"It is still really tight at the bottom of the table and, as I’ve said before, nobody up to Lewes is safe at this stage."
