Winchmore Hill racing driver Max Leaver ended his debut Mini Challenge Championship campaign with an impressive fourth place overall finish.

In the seventh and final round of the competition, at Donington Park, four races were to be held over the weekend.

Despite qualifying fifth for the opening race, the Max Leaver Racing team pit crew were confident the car would perform well.

He started the opening race well and quickly moved into third position. He kept a consistent pace through the race before overtaking the leading two cars with a brave move.

A slight mistake on the final lap saw Leaver slip into second position but, on the final corner, he retook the lead and finished in top spot.

The second race was held on Sunday morning. Leaver lined up on pole position and confidently led into the first corner.

However, he was soon overtaken and, despite a valiant effort to regain first place, settled for second spot.

The lunchtime race saw Leaver again finish runner-up and he went into the final race of the Championship knowing a win would secure second in the Club Class Championship and third overall.

The race began with reverse grid and rolling start. After making up several positions, Leaver suffered damage to his car.

He still managed to post the fastest lap of the race but could only come home in second place.

This meant he ended in third position in the Club Class and fourth overall in the Mini Challenge Championship – a fine result for a new team.
