You published a letter By G Chase (‘Commiserations to former Tory MP’, Opinion, May 27) generally regretting the narrow defeat of Nick de Bois.
I have no axe to grind with our local MPs and emphasise I did not vote in this election.
However, may I heartily agree with your correspondent, Nick de Bois had a very influential post in the last Government, being the secretary to the back benchers in the house. Also he had for several years organised jobseeking conferences at the leisure centre etc. However, every cloud has a silver lining. Maybe now, Nick could use this experience to influence the Prime Minister to carefully think about the religious Christian consequences of mixed marriages.
Also, please continue to help the unemployed here in Enfield. Thanks Nick.
