As an associate cabinet member (ACM) for south-east Enfield and chairman of the Cycle Enfield board, please allow me to inform you that big companies such as Orange, Sky, Satander, National Grid and a further 24 more employers have signed a letter addressed to the Mayor of London and all the leaders of political parties expressing not only their support but the reasons why cycle routes should be extended across London.
Cycling is not only a healthy exercise but these companies have also pointed out that they experience fewer sick days, reduced stress and more productivity.
It goes on to say that in New York, where cycle routes are in force, there has been a 150 per cent rise in sales.
London Borough of Enfield is continuing its consultation on proposed cycle routes across the borough with various exhibitions and people are being asked to give their opinion.
Cycle routes will make Enfield a safer place for cyclists and prevent accidents involving cars and cyclists.
This is a project that will be of benefit to present and future generations with a better quality of air and a far better quality of life. The benefits for all are too many to be listed here.

Lab/Haselbury ward Enfield Borough Council
