As a long-time Palmers Green resident and business owner in both the Lakes and Medway Estates, I was pleased to support the Fox Lane Residents’ Association in facilitating local input to the council’s Quieter Neighbourhood initiative.

Many hundreds of replies confirmed what I had long heard from my own clients, that there is a real desire to mitigate the adverse impacts of through traffic, often speeding, across this area. A large pool of residential representatives got together under council leadership and developed the broad outline of a plan, which will proceed through more and wider communication and subsequent development stages to potential implementation. More attractive homes and desirable streets are of course at the heart of my own particular business.

I was also pleased to support Enfield’s first Play Street last year, an initiative supported by major authorities such as the Department of Health, and along with Play London I am now helping support 13 more local streets in their early stages of securing Play Street status. Others are also now proceeding in other parts of our borough.

Positive examples of residents, businesses and the council working together to benefit a community. Let’s hope we can all find more.
