Letter writer Lindsay Rawlings asks when will the trains at Edmonton Green be made accessible (‘Trains need to be made accessible’, Opinion, February 4).
As from May 31, 2015, the station will come under London Overground’s new Turn-Up-and-Go scheme for those mobility-impaired passengers who require assistance.
Under the new contract, as with all London Overground stations, Edmonton Green will be staffed at all times trains are running and passengers using wheelchairs will be able to board trains using ramps provided by staff.
A first for Britain’s railways and introduced in March 2014 by Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, the scheme means that passengers who need help are no longer required to give the operator 24 hours notice before they travel.
