It is telling that the letter from Labour Parliamentary candidate Councillor Bambos Charalambous was so underwhelming (‘Only deterrent is fear of getting caught’, Opinion, December 24).
Tired old rhetoric that has been aired before and refuted before. A display of amnesia as regards past events. He omits the fact that the necessary and working elements of austerity, which affect us all, have been the result of his own party’s financial incompetence and bad policies when in government.
Regarding his reference to leaving our cherished parks open and unprotected at night-time, I witnessed the sheep-like voting in favour of this reckless policy by all the Labour councillors at the civic centre.
It is patently clear that if this irresponsible idea proceeds, we, the rate payers, will pay dearly, and even more seriously, there could be incidences of physical assault to individuals in the darkness.
