If Councillor Sitkin was sincere in claiming Enfield is a “business-friendly council” he would start by supporting Conservative demands for: 1. Introducing 20-minutes’ free parking across all of Enfield’s high streets and free parking on Sundays (rather than fiddling around with a two space pilot scheme).
2) Reducing business rates for hard-working Enfield businesses.
Instead the Enfield Borough Council is looking at increasing parking fines to the level seen in Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea, and Cllr Sitkin insists on demonising private landlords, claiming they should “do their bit for the high street”.
Surely it is about time Enfield Council did ‘their bit for the high street’ by passing these simple measures that would deliver genuinely positive and far-reaching results.
Cllr Jason Charalambous
Con/Cockfosters ward, Enfield Borough Council
