I was interested to pick up your newspaper and see Andy Love MP talking about high house prices in Edmonton (‘House prices 11 times average wage’, Enfield Independent, November 19).

If we accept that this is largely fuelled by a shortage of houses I am surprised that I have not seen Mr Love make any comment in the press about the failure of Labour-run Enfield Borough Council to bring forward the development at Meridian Water.

Across the country, councils have enabled large-scale developments to come forward but for some reason Enfield Council has been unable to oversee development here.

Meridian Water is capable of providing 8,000 homes and work needs to start as soon as possible.

Perhaps Mr Love would be willing to put party differences aside and join me in urging his colleagues in the Enfield Labour Party to get a move on?
