Congratulations to the Enfield Independent for highlighting the dangers posed by speeding cars along the A10 (‘Someone will be killed’, Enfield Independent, July 30).

Following your story, I went down the road speaking to residents living alongside it and I also asked over social media for people to contact me.

Over the last two weeks, I have now had more people get in touch with me over this issue than any other.

There are two major concerns. Firstly, the noise, which means some people are having to sleep at the back of their houses on a Sunday evening to avoid it. Secondly, it is the fear that one of these boy racers is going to lose control of their cars and cause a fatal accident.

It is clear that Enfield Police alone cannot deal with it. Resource is needed from the Met centrally and also from Transport for London.

I have written to Boris Johnson to make him aware of this and also see if he will consider allocating some resource.
