A car clamping company has been fined £1,500 after admitting misleading motorists.
Premier Parking, which operates in Edmonton Green shopping centre, had to fork out a further £450 in costs and compensation for advertising different charges for releasing clamped cars.
One sign said the release fee was £50, but another notice in the same car park said shoppers had to pay £60 to free their vehicles.
A motorist who noticed the inconsistencies complained to Enfield Council's trading standards department after they were charged £70 for their car's unclamping.
Magistrates fined the company £500 for each count of misleading drivers, as well as awarding £380 costs to the council and £70 compensation to the complainant.
Cllr Terry Neville, cabinet member for the environment, said: "I suspect many motorists out there will be cheering when they hear this news.
"Companies have a duty to be clear, honest and transparent with their charges, and as a council we are determined to protect the consumer from devious practices."
