A 48-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested following the discovery of around 500 cannabis plants.
Acting on local intelligence information, the Enfield Lock Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) discovered a fully operational cannabis factory at a house in Beaconsfield Road, with specialist lighting equipment and a complex electricity set up in order to heat the plants.
EDF Energy engineers were called in to ensure the electrics were safe before officers continued their investigations.
The 48-year-old was arrested in connection with the discovery. He was held on suspicion on cultivation and production of cannabis and is currently on bail pending further enquiries.
Sergeant Dick Whitehouse, from the Enfield Lock SNT, said: "The closure of this cannabis factory came as a direct result of community concerns.
"The availability of the drug across the ward and the rest of the borough has effectively been significantly reduced."
