POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the stomach by a gang of teenagers on a bus in Enfield earlier this month.

The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and extensive bleeding. He was rushed to hospital after the incident on Friday, October 5, and is now recovering at home.

Investigating officer from Enfield Police, Detective Constable Jonathan Conner, said the incident had started at a fair, with the victim followed onto the 279 bus by a group of black males at Waltham Cross bus garage.

On the lower deck of the bus, the victim was set upon by the group and was stabbed repeatedly.

The group, made up of between ten and 15 people, got off the bus as it was travelling down Hertford Road towards Enfield Town at around 11pm.

Det Con Conner said the group left the bus around the junction between Hertford Road and Mandeville Road.

The police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, saying the bus was busy at the time.
