A determined robber raided an Enfield Town bookmakers on Friday morning.

Staff at William Hill, in St Marks Road, were preparing for the day's work at 9.30am when a hooded bandit with his face hidden by a black scarf appeared from the rear of the shop and demanded cash.

The two members of staff were threatened with what they believed to be a gun and handed over the money.

The robber stashed the cash in a yellow cloth bag and escaped, via a rear door, towards First Avenue.

Officers from the Flying Squad are investigating the incident, and are hunting a man of mediterranean appearence, aged around 25. He is described as speaking with an Eastern European accent.
