Bogus water board officials trick Bush Hill Park pensioner out of £14k

Fake water board officials tricked a 93-year-old man out of £14,000.

The elderly man answered a knock at his home in Dimsdale Drive in Bush Hill Park at approximately 1.30pm on Monday, September 24.

Two men convinced the pensioner they needed to check inside following reports of a water leak.

The victim left the suspects for a few minutes to check he had money in case he was charged.

He was distracted as one man asked him to turn on the taps in the kitchen. It is believed the other man found the cash in his bedroom before they fled into a small white van.

The pensioner quickly realised the cash was missing from his bedroom and his phone line had been cut.

Both men had Irish accents. The first suspect is described as white with a large build, dark hair, approximately 6ft tall in his early 40s.

The second is white, in his early 40s, of a medium build, approximately 5ft 6ins with black hair.
