New Oyster card will restore free travel for all over 60s
A new Oyster card will restore free travel for all over 60s in London when it is launched next month.
The new card will bridge the gap for people who have turned 60 but do not qualify for the London Council’s Freedom Pass.
Age qualification for the Freedom Pass, which provides free travel on all Transport for London and some Network Rail services, was raised from 60 to 61 by the government in 2010.
The 60+ Oyster will be available from November 1 and provides the same free travel.
Applications for the card will open on October 17 on the TfL website, www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets, or by telephoning 0845 331 9872
