The launch of a free weekly exercise class for over 50s was a storming success.
Members of the Over 50s Forum got their hearts pumping at Albany Leisure Centre during classes including Zumba, swimming, pilates, indoor cycle and yoga classes, gym sessions, badminton and indoor bowls.
Yesterday’s event marked the start of the weekly session, which will run every Thursday at the refurbished centre in Hertford Road.
The session, which also runs at Edmonton Leisure Centre, Southgate Leisure Centre and Southbury Leisure Centre, was launched by the Enfield Over 50s Forum as part of its campaign to Get Fit for a Longer Life.
In the last year, more than 1,500 Forum members have taken part in the classes.
Councillor Bambos Charalambous, Enfield Council's Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture said “It is vital that older people keep fit and active in later years, and these activity days do just that.
"As well as fitness these activities are a fun way of getting out and meeting new people.”
The activity days are organised by Fusion Lifestyle, the sports and leisure management charity with runs Albany Leisure Centre in partnership with Enfield Council and the Over 50s Forum.
