Evidence seized from Enfield 'poker den'

A suspected poker den posing as a private members club was raided on Tuesday.

Police stormed the premises with Enfield Council and members of the Gambling Commission who seized evidence including computers and records.

Enfield Council's Cabinet Member for Environment, Councillor Chris Bond, said: "We have an obligation to investigate suspected illegal gambling and in this instance we acted quickly and decisively against a suspected poker den. Such gambling has to be legitimately regulated to protect the public. 

"The premises was not licensed for commercial gambling. We take illegal gambling seriously and will always seek to take robust action."

The council, who will not reveal the location of the  is reviewing the evidence and continuing to investigate.
