All smiles for schoolgirl Lilia Cooper who donates hair to cancer charity

A schoolgirl is enjoying her new look after donating her hair to a children’s cancer charity.

Lilia Cooper, seven, had ten inches of her blonde locks cut last night to donate to the Little Princess Trust, which provides wigs for children across the UK who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.

Her mother Emma, of Lavender Hill, said: “She absolutely loves her new look - she has not stopped smiling, she is really happy.

“Everyone is saying how grown up she looks now. Her teacher came out this morning and all her classmates were running around her.

“She took a ribbon into class today to show how much hair was sent off – I have a feeling she is going to have a very good day at school.”

Ms Cooper posted Lilia’s hair to the charity this morning for it to be transformed into a wig.

The Lavender Primary School pupil said she wanted to another little girl to enjoy having her long hair and “be happy.”

Her thick flowing locks, which were half-way down her back, have been cut to above her jaw.

The charity needs seven inch hair donations in order to make wigs, but Lilia’s hair was so long, she was able to send an extra three inches. 

The little star wanted to make £350 through donations for the charity – the cost of a wig, but she has been given so much support that she doubled her target.

To date, she has made almost £630 for the good cause.

The Little Princess Trust thanked Lilia for her “selfless” donation and said it is “amazed” at how “kind and brave” she has been to help another child.
