Swing and jive fans in for a treat in Durants Park
11:00am Friday 7th September 2012 in News By Hermione Wright
Swing and jive fans are in for a treat in Durants Park this month.
Members of Enfield’s over 50s groups as well as residents from care home Bullsmoor Lodge will dance to jive and swing band The Jive Aces.
The older dancers have met weekly with East London Dance over the summer to perfect their routine on Sunday, September 16.
The Enfield Community Singers will also perform during the free event called Tea Jive, which runs between 2pm and 5pm.
Cllr Del Goddard, Enfield Council cabinet member for Business and Regeneration, said: “Tea Jive promises to be a fun day out for our older residents and their friends and family to come together and enjoy fantastic music, great food and a memorable performance.
“These dancers have worked impressively hard over the summer rehearsing this dance number and I can’t wait to see it performed live.
“How better to get into the swing of the new season of Strictly Come Dancing than to see some excellent live Jive and take a few turns around the dance floor?”
The event is the first of its kind on the borough and is funded by the Mayor of London Outer London Fund.
