10:30am Thursday 6th September 2012 in News By Hermione Wright
A con artist who stole cash from an elderly woman in Ponders End is sought by police.
The man, who is approximately 40 years old, knocked on the 71-year-old woman’s front door in Holmbridge Gardens at 12pm on August 29.
He said he had just witnessed an accident and needed her to call an ambulance.
The pensioner closed the door after calling the ambulance but he knocked again asking for a towel for the injured person.
At this point, he was invited in by the victim, but he snatched an envelope of cash and ran from her property.
Just minutes before the incident, the woman had returned home after withdrawing cash from a bank in Hertford Road.
The suspect is described as a white male, between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins and of a thin build.
At the time of the burglary, he was unshaven and wearing a dark dirty baseball cap and blue denim jeans.
