Hard work has paid off for an Enfield student who achieved 11 A*s to Cs in her GCSEs.

Oasis Academy student Jessica Harris picked up her results this morning with her mother Patricia Rodway.

The 16-year-old, from Sandhurst Road in Edmonton, spent an average of five hours a day revising for her exams in a bid to do as well as possible.

Miss Harris was unsure what she was going to achieve, but her grades are far better than she ever imagined.

She said: “I think I’m in shock at the moment, I am very happy. It is a lot better than I was expecting.”

“I struggled with psychology at first so I did lots of revision and the teacher helped me with it – I made sure to give myself lots of extra time to prepare for my exams.”

After focussing on her problem subject, she said she is thrilled to have achieved a grade C at GCSE.

The dedicated student would like to become a secondary school teacher, perhaps at Oasis Academy, in the future.

Miss Harris missed a C in maths by just a couple of marks, but will re-take her exam at the next opportunity.

Ms Rodway said: “I am really proud, extremely proud of here. She has done fantastically – I am so pleased for her.”

However, she thinks her daughter will find the transition from GCSEs to A-Levels, which she will take at the academy in Innova Business Park in Mollison Avenue, quite tough.

She added: “I think she will find next year a lot more hard work than it has been. If she thinks this was hard, then next year is going to be harder.”
