Hundred per cent A-Level pass rate for Edmonton's Aylward Academy

An Edmonton academy has achieved an impressive 100 per cent A-level pass rate for the second year running.

More than half - 51 per cent - of the 25 Year 13 students at Aylward Academy, in Windmill Road, received grades between A* and B.

Among the success stories is student Mahdi Taani, who will study physics at Queen Mary University after achieving three B grades in maths, biology and physics.

Fartun Abdi received an A in sociology, a B in psychology and a distinction* in Btec ICT, granting her a place to study primary education at the University of Hertfordshire.

The principal, Jonathan Gillard, said: “I am delighted that so many students have obtained their target grades, particularly at a time when competition for both university, employment, and training is so fierce. Congratulations to students and staff.”

The academy opened two years ago with student numbers expanding from 88 to 320 this coming academic year.

Its hard to not think that A Level exams are getting easier when this kind of result rather than a normal distribution is achieved.

For over five years it has been argued that bus route w6 along the Hedge Lane corridor be improved; and bus route 318 be extended from North Middlesex Hospital along Silver Street, Hedge Lane, Barrowell Green, Sainsbury';s superstore, Green Dragon Lane, Highlands Village to Oakwood to allow both a greater catchment of students to go to this academy and patients ability to independently attend North Middlesex Hospital

Why are there only 25 students in Year 13? How many per A Level class, assuming they offer a range of subjects (5 are mentioned in the article). With those class sizes no wonder so many are passing, though it makes me wonder if the school are being selective with their A Level students in order to maintain these figures. I wonder what their drop out rate is... Also, a pass means A-G doesnt it? My 8 year old could get a G!!!
