Bully jailed for stabbing neighbour in the face in Magpie Close

A bully who stabbed his neighbour in the face has been jailed for seven years.

Barry George Staples, 54, of Magpie Close, was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court on Tuesday for attacking his 37-year-old neighbour on February 16 this year.

Police were called to the victim’s address in Magpie Close shortly after midday to reports of a stabbing. They found the victim covered in blood with a stab wound to his face.

The 37-year-old man, who had been shopping in the morning, was confronted by Staples upon his return.

A blood trail led police to Staples’ flat, where officers arrested him and recovered the knife used in the attack.

He was charged with grievous bodily harm on February 17 and was found guilty after a three-day trial at Wood Green Crown Court starting on Thursday, August 9.

DC Sarah Towe, investigating officer, said: “While the victim may have already physically recovered from his injuries he has been left permanently scarred.

“The result of this trial may help him move forward in his life now that Staples, who had bullied him for a number of years, is behind bars.”
