Councillor Chris Bond condemns vandals for destroying Olympic-themed flower beds

A politician has hit out at vandals who destroyed Olympic-themed flower beds designed by school children.

Flower beds featuring the 2012 motif and medals were planted in Chase Green Park, Broomfield Park and Pymmes Park tocelebrate the Olympics.

However, within the past two weeks, the flower beds in all three parks have been vandalised.

Enfield Council’s cabinet member for environment, Councillor Chris Bond, said: “At a time when the whole country is getting behind Team GB and its brilliant athletes, it’s an absolute disgrace to see mindless idiots have vandalised Olympic-themed flower beds carefully designed by school children.

“If anyone has any information about this act of wanton destruction, we’d urge them to call the police so we can bring these idiots to book.”

Enfield Council staff have restored each of the flower beds but are determined to catch the people responsible for the damage.
