Firefighters from Southgate swapped their uniforms for drag on Saturday to run 10km in a fundraiser for a cancer charity.

The nine men from Green and White Watch at Southgate Fire Station in High Street raised more than £1,000 for Prostate Action in their fetching outfits during the run in Highbury Fields.

And the team have also become world record holders after they joined 300 other men dressed in drag to hold a five-minute line dance before the event on Saturday morning.

Green Watch crew manager Grant Andrea, 46, said: “We heard about it when we got some flyers and we thought that it was a good cause and we should get involved.

“And perhaps it released a few of the inhibitions that some of us may have as well.”
