Enfield Council gives grant to Talking Newspaper
Enfield’s Talking Newspaper for blind and partially sighted people has been given a grant to fund a move to digital production.
Enfield Council has given the charity £2,500 to purchase equipment, such as digital recording devices, which will make it easier for listeners to record their own contributions to the paper.
The charity provides a weekly recording of articles from local papers as well as producing a magazine which features original short stories, poems and interviews.
Phillip Dawson, chairman of the Talking Newspaper, said: “We were delighted to receive the grant from the Council.
“It has enabled us to purchase new digital recording and duplicating equipment including a new hand-held MP3 recorder, which will make it easier for listeners and supporters to record their own contributions for the magazine.”
The Talking Newspaper and Talking Magazine are issued free of charge to anyone registered blind or partially sighted in Enfield.
