A TRIO of armed robbers who went on a six-week crime spree earlier this year have been locked up.

Yousef Koleilat, Patou Mayamba, both 22, and Jotkar Hussein, 21, raided bookies across Haringey and Enfield in March and April, armed with a handgun.

In the first robbery, two men burst into William Hill bookies in Willoughby Lane, Tottenham and threatened staff but left empty handed.

A day later, on March 7, they tried again in Highgate Hill and stole £786 when one of the men pointed a gun at staff and demanded they empty the tills.

The robbers hit William Hill branches in Lordship Lane, Tottenham and in Victoria Road, Edmonton, Ladbrokes in Oldhill Street and Hermitage Road, South Tottenham and a Corals bookies in Chaseville Parade, Grange Park.

However, in their later attempts they often came out empty handed, and in one case escaped with just £10, despite repeateded threats of violence.

All three admitted conspiracy to rob and conspiracy to carry a firearm or imitation firearm with criminal intent at Harrow Crown Court.

Koleilat, of The Roundway, Tottenham, was jailed on Friday, December 17 for nine years.

Mayamba, of no fixed address, was jailed for eight years, and Hussein, of Maple Close, Stamford Hill, was give a six year prison term.

Detective Constable Paul Harburn, who led the investigation into the string of robberies, said the case against them was overwhelming and they had no choice but to plead guilty.

He said: “These men carried out frightening and sustained raids over a two month period. Staff and customers at the targeted premises were left distressed by their actions, especially when they were unable to meet their demands to hand over large amounts of cash.

“It is thanks to the professionalism of the case put forward that they had no choice but to plead guilty at court."
