A WOMAN was left in a critical condition and another was injured in a hit-and-run.

The pedestrians, 32 and 62, were crossing the road at Bury Street, Edmonton when a light coloured Mercedes crashed into them.

The driver failed to stop. The 32-year-old is in a critical condition, while the 62-year-old is now stable in hospital.

The incident happened at 11.15pm on Friday, May 26.

Detective Sergeant John Woods, said: "Although this incident occurred during the night there would have been a number of road users who would have seen the incident itself or the events leading up to it.

"The injured women are fortunate not to have lost their lives but sadly there is a possibility they will be left with life changing injuries. It is of paramount importance that the person responsible for inflicting such injuries on these women is caught immediately.

"The vehicle involved would have sustained significant damage to its front, bonnet and windscreen, if you have seen a vehicle matching this description I would urge you to get in contact with us."
