A BLAZE tore through the fourth floor of a high-rise block of flats.

Crews were called to Tottenham High Road late on Thursday night as a fire threatened to engulf a high-storey building.

Six fire engines and 35 firefighters and officers arrived soon after 11.30pm and had the fire under control by 1am.

The fire damaged around half of a fourth floor flat in the nineteen storey block.

Watch Manager Mike Cotton said: ”The fire was going quite well when we arrived and crews worked hard to get it under control and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring properties.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
