A CELEBRITY chef and actress visited a school to encourage children to make healthier choices.

Pupils at Stamford Hill Primary School welcomed a visit from actress Lisa Faulkner joined them to promote Change4Life’s new app on Tuesday.

The Be Food Smart app scans food barcodes and reveals how much saturated fat, sugar and salt the contents contain.

The formers Celebrity Masterchef winner got stuck in, showing students how to prepare healthier foods.

She said: “Even though I’m passionate about cooking, as a mum I know it can be difficult to encourage your children to eat healthily.

“I was really excited to be at Stamford Hill Primary School to help show kids that eating food that’s good for you doesn’t mean it has to be boring!

“Hopefully the healthy tips and easy-to-make recipes that the children learned in the lesson are something they can take home and try there.”

The event is part of the growing campaign by Public Health England to tackle childhood obesity.

Currently 22 per cent of four-to-five-year-olds and 38.1 per cent of 10-11-year-olds are either overweight or obese in London.
