A CONSULTATION on plans to transform Wood Green has been launched.

Haringey Council hope the ambitious plans will create 4,000 new homes and 7,700 new homes.

It would also create a new down centre designed to become a major shopping destination for north London.

The proposals include attracting more restaurants, cafés and places to socialise, as well as redeveloping currently abandoned sites to create a range of new workspaces and offices.

The street layout in Wood Green centre will also be improved, to create new parking spaces, as well as better transport links between Wood Green Town Centre and Alexandra Palace.

Cllr Joe Goldberg, Haringey Council cabinet member for economic development, said: “We want to make Wood Green one the best places to work, shop, eat and drink in London and need local people to give use their views to help shape the future of the area.

“It is important that people have their say and we are calling on anyone living and working in the area to tell us what they like about Wood Green and what they would like to see improved.”

People can give their views at https://woodgreen.commonplace.is/ before the consultation closes on Friday March 31.
