Parents are being warned to avoid a Halloween nightmare by registering for secondary school admissions on time.

The deadline is October 31 for next September’s intake, and Enfield Council say applications should be done with plenty of time to spare to help boost chances of getting your first choice.

Of the pupils who started secondary school this September, 91.5 per cent of those who submitted an application on time were offered a place at one of their top three choices, say the council.

Cabinet Member for Education, Children’s Services and Protection, Cllr Ayfer Orhan, visited science students at Enfield County School on September 26.

She said: “There are a wide range of fantastic schools in Enfield and parents can be sure that wherever their children go they will be well taught and looked after.

"But it is incredibly important that applications are submitted early so that they can be processed in good time and parents maximise the chances of their children going to a school of their choice.”
