A man stabbed to death last month in Wood Green has been identified.

Grzegorz Stanislaw Pietrycki, 25, was found lying seriously injured in Glendale Avenue at 4.45am on Tuesday, August 23.

Police and the London Ambulance Service attended, but Mr Pietrycki was pronounced dead at the scene.

He had been stabbed and slashed “a number of times”, say police. A post-mortem the day after his death gave cause of death as stab wound to the neck.

A 29-year-old man is currently on bail until October after being arrested on August 24 on suspicion of murder.

A 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder a day earlier has been released with no further action.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Chalmers, who is leading the investigation, said they believe Mr Pietrycki was attacked inside an address in nearby Maryland Road but managed to escape outside, ending up in Glendale Avenue.

He said: "I am appealing for anyone in the area of Maryland Road or Glendale Avenue who saw or heard anything suspicious in the early hours of August 23, particularly between 4am and 5am.

"We are keeping an open mind regarding the possible motivation behind this murder, and I am keen to hear from anyone who may be able to help."

Mr Pietrycki’s next of kin have been informed, and the investigation is continuing.
