A bookmakers raised more money than any branch in the country on a day of fundraising for a cancer charity.

Staff at the Bush Hill Park branch of William Hill, along with customers, raised £150 for the Bobby Moore Fund on their Football Shirt Friday.

Across the UK, people paid £2 to wear their favourite football shirt. All the money raised by the day – a record total of £140,477.56 - will go to Cancer Research UK’s bowel cancer research and clinical trials.

After the event on April 22, staff at the Bush Hill Park store this week presented the cheque to Bobby Moore Fund founder Stephanie Moore, widow of the 1966 World Cup winning captain.

Ms Moore said: “William Hill have really got behind Football Shirt Friday and raised an amazing amount by wearing and encouraging customers to wear their favourite team’s shirt for a donation.

“Every penny raised will go towards helping us beat bowel cancer once and for all.”
