A plumber from Edmonton has been selected as a regional finalist in a search by to find Britain’s top tradesperson.

Hattie Hasan, 54, has seen off competition from tradesmen and women from across London and is now one step closer to the national final at Wembley.

Before that, she has to impress the judges at the regional final on June 28.

Ms Hasan, who trades under Stopcocks Women Plumbers, founded the all-woman plumbing company in 1990 and has worked in the profession for more than 26 years.

She said: “I worked as a teacher for eight years but plumbing is such a male-dominated field, I really want to inspire other women to join the plumbing industry. 

“I’m very passionate about my job and the plumbing industry. To win the title would be a dream come true and it would be a testament to the work we do all over the country.”

The competition is run by Screwfix, and their marketing director, John Mewett, said: "We only give the award to those who can prove they excel in their business and being selected as a regional finalist highlights the great work that Hattie is doing.

“Along with our other finalists, she has demonstrated a willingness to go the extra mile to get the job done and leave customers satisfied.”
