An estate agent preparing to run a gruelling obstacle course for charity says she is feeling “hyped up”.
Despina Christaki is doing the Men’s Health Survival of the Fittest Challenge on July 23 in Wembley Park – a 10km run and obstacle course.
Ms Christaki, of Winchmore Hill, is raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital, and having set a target of £2,000 has already raised £950 after setting up her Just Giving page on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old is well into her training – the event was supposed to take place in November, but has been brought forward to the summer.
She said: “It’s going to be very difficult, but children are very precious to me, so I have to do it.
“This is my first ever charity run, so I am just going to go for it and raise as much as I can.
“I lost two friends at a young age, who were treated at GOSH, and I’ve currently got a close friend’s sister being treated there. It is close to my heart.”
Ms Christaki is running the course in a group of 10, and says the most important thing is getting everyone round, rather than winning or doing it quickly.
She said: “I am nervous, but excited. No regrets at the moment, maybe once I have finished and can’t feel my legs.
“I’m just really hyped up, I can’t wait.”
