A teenage Great Ormond Street patient will race at the Olympic park this May.

Denisa Alia from Freezywater will take part in the RBC Race for the Kids on Sunday, May 15, a 5k family fun run at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford to help raise money for the hospital.

The race will see around 10,000 participants run, walk or jog around the course – Ms Alia will be taking her dog Tiger along with her.

This is her second time the 19-year-old, who was treated for a brain tumour by GOSH, will run in the race, as she aims to raise £200.

Alison Rulton, senior fundraising manager at GOSH said: “We’re thrilled that Denisa is taking part this year, all the money raised will help us make a real difference to seriously ill children and their families from across the UK, and so we’d like to say a big thank you to Denisa for her support.”

Ms Alia is a keen fundraiser and raises money for charity every month by running cake sales and tombola in Waltham Cross.
