A community centre has thanked a supermarket chain after receiving a food donation for Passover.

Tesco Extra in Lea Valley has provided hundreds of pounds worth of kosher foods including Kedem wine and dried fruits to Victoria community centre in Stamford Hill, which has been working with the United Synagogues Passover Appeal to help feed those in need.

Michelle Minsky from United Synagogues said: “This was a real bonus for Passover Appeal and it meant that people could enjoy items such as fruit juice and chocolate which many families just take for granted.”

The food was donated to the synagogue on Wednesday, April 13 by Marcie Thomas, Tesco community champion for Barnet and Enfield.

Ms Thomas said: “Passover is a key time in the Jewish calendar for families to come together and we’re delighted to have donated food to support those less fortunate.”
