Two people have been arrested after four men were seen ‘acting suspiciously’ around a van and a motorhome.

Police officers were called to Bulls Cross Ride in Waltham Cross last Wednesday (January 27) to reports of the men acting suspiciously.

As they arrived, two men left and ran into the grounds of the nearby Theobalds Park Hotel.

A 27-year-old man from Epping and a 25-year-old man from Thurrock were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, and have been bailed to return to Stevenage Police Station on March 10.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour in or around the hotel grounds at that time, or who has any information about a white ‘N’ registration Peugeot van parked nearby on an isolated road called Whitewebbs Lane, less than a mile from Bulls Cross Ride.

DC Holly Dawson said: “I would be interested to hear from anyone who was at the hotel or was in the area around the time of the incident and saw either a vehicle matching this description or anyone acting suspiciously.

“I’d also like to remind residents to make sure they securely lock vehicles when they are left unattended and that leaving valuable items in vehicles is very likely to entice criminals to break in.

“Please make sure you remove anything of value from your vehicle including coins, sat-navs, phones and especially expensive tools and equipment.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Holly Dawson on Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101.
