One of the men behind the “largest burglary in English legal history” is still at large, a court has heard.

Known only as Basil, he is the final man behind the Hatton Garden Heist which took place over the Easter weekend that is yet to be apprehended.

Ringleaders Daniel Jones of Park Avenue, Enfield; Terry Perkins, 58, of Heene Road, Enfield, John "Kenny" Collins, 75, and Brian Reader 76, both of Dartford have all already pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary at Hatton Garden Safe Deposit.

Hugh Doyle, 48, of Riverside Gardens, Enfield, is charged with them on one count of conspiracy to conceal, convert or transfer criminal property between 1 January and 19 May, this year.

He also faces an alternative charge of concealing, converting or transferring criminal property between April 1 and May 19, this year.

The other three include Carl Wood, 58, of Elderbeck Close, Cheshunt, Hertfordshire; William Lincoln, 60, of Winkley Street, Bethnal Green, east London; and Jon Harbinson, 42, of Beresford Gardens, Benfleet, Essex.

The jury at Woolwich Crown Court heard Brian Reader used a freedom pass to make his way to the heist.

Oyster card records show the pensioner boarded the 96 bus from near his home in Dartford, before exiting Waterloo East station at around 6.30pm.

From there he caught the number 55 bus to St John Street - about a five minute walk from Hatton Garden.

But he withdrew from the conspiracy when the gang ran in to difficulties trying to get in to the vault at Hatton Garden Safe Deposit on the first night.

The other men involved in the raid allegedly returned the following night to complete the job.

Jurors have heard that two thirds of the £14 million worth of goods that were stolen have not yet been recovered.

Jurors were told the only working CCTV cameras in the seven-floor building were those owned by an independent company - Premises 21 - on the second floor.

Explaining this, Detective Constable Jamie Day said that although other cameras covered the building, the unit operating them had been stolen.

The footage shows a white van, driven by Collins, arriving in the vicinity of 88-90 Hatton Garden at around 8.30pm on April 2.

Shortly afterwards, two men dressed in high-visibility vests, get out and walk around the area for a short time.

Philip Evans, prosecuting, told jurors these men were Jones and Man F - a man they believe to be Carl Wood.

Another clip shows the moment a mystery red-haired burglar, who has only been identified as Basil, apparently allowing the gang access to the building from inside.

He is first seen on camera walking along nearby Greville Street, with a black bag on his shoulder, hiding his face from the camera.

The trial continues.
