Building work for a new care home has begun.

The 70 bed care home will replace the old Coppice Wood Lodge and Bridge House, in Grove Road, Arnos Grove.

Cllr Alev Cazimoglu, Enfield council’s cabinet member for health and adult social Care, said: “Our decision to build a new care home in the borough allows us to respond to the shortages of nursing care capacity in Enfield. Our building contractor, Morgan Sindall, started on site in August and work on the construction of the new care home has started.

“The new care home will be a bright modern building with excellent facilities, specifically designed to meet residents’ needs. It will be fully equipped with adapted ensuite bathrooms, activity rooms and a landscaped garden complete with seating areas and wheelchair accessible paths.

“The 70 bedrooms will be split into groups of 10-14, each with their own lounge and dining rooms which will help provide a homely environment for the people who will live here.”

The work is not expected to be completed until November 2016.

Neil Franklin, Morgan Sindall area director, said: “We are very pleased to be starting work on this important scheme. Once complete, the development will deliver an attractive, sustainable building that will provide a lovely home for residents requiring special care in Enfield.

“This bright, contemporary building will be built to a high specification using sustainable materials, with great features and facilities which will improve the residents’ experience.”
