A youth group has produced two short films tackling modern slavery with the help of students.
Pupils from Nightingale Academy, in Edmonton, and St Anne’s Catholic High School, in Palmers Green, have come together with the group, Exposure, to investigate the topic in a bid to inspire its audience.
Abadur Ebz Rahman, 18, who worked on the project, said: “No one wants to think this stuff is out there, but it is – and the longer it's ignored, the worse it gets. It was a powerful issue to work on. We had fun but it really challenged all of us.”
The script was turned into a short film called ‘Products’, with students developing practical skills in story development, hands-on camera work, direction and filmic design.
Fran O’Connell, Exposure’s media trainer, said: “It has been so inspiring to see the young people’s passion, hard work and enthusiasm during all stages of production. They have real pride in what they have achieved."
Working with 35 youngsters from Enfield, the youth group said it is looking forward to more opportunities to develop local young people’s creativity on important issues.
